Some people wish to learn just some tab songs to play at campfires. if you would like more, a good strategy would be to start from one single song or exercise you like playing and then just expand on it. This could mean learning more songs by the same writer or taking a certain riff thru all of the keys.

The most important thing for learning to play the guitar is wanting it. Desire is much more important than talent. If you really want to learn guitar music, you are willing to sacrifice other parts of your life for practicing. This doesn’t mean you should give up your social life and practice until you’re playing like a superstar. It means that you don’t feel the need to put up practicing for later to watch TV.

You should not attempt to learn guitar music because some other person makes you do it. You must learn just because you wish to. Practicing should be fun, not nerve-wrangling. If you like playing, you sure are on the right trail and at some particular point you may progress.
